The “unbonded” aspect means that the steel strand or wire remains independent of the concrete. Unlike bonded tendons where the steel is directly attached to the concrete, unbonded tendons are surrounded by a protective sheath. This allows for better corrosion protection and easy replacement of individual strands if required.
